Wellness Support Sessions for those with EDS/HSD

The ILC Foundation Membership Support Program is to provide educational resources to help individuals create a balance between school, work, self-care, self-management and leisure activities.

We know that living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes, its related conditions including chronic pain or other Heritable Connective Tissue Disorders can be isolating and difficult to manage.

The pressures of balancing work, home life, hospital visits, doctor appointments, sleepless nights, rehabilitation and physio therapy plus navigating the medical system and all the associated paperwork can be an overwhelming journey for anyone and families.

The ILC provides a platform for peer support, where people can connect on their lived experience and provide understanding support to one another and sharing tips to assist with coping strategies, goal-setting and wellness planning.

Our 60 minutes sessions (up to a 90 minutes maximum) are offered with an Occupational Therapy Students and a Client Navigator (Wellness Session Leader) as part of a joint educational program with McMaster University Occupational Therapy Program.

We can assist with:

•Developing strategies and making adaptations to help you complete meaningful daily activities in school, work, parenting, household chores, leisure, home accessibility etc.

•Navigation or Advocacy assistance

•Form completion assistance such as Disability Tax Credit, CPP-D, etc.

•Resources

These resources are meant to assist members in their self-advocacy needs for access to care for themselves or for family members they care for. These sessions are provided free of charge and are CONFIDENTIAL.
