MISSIONTo inspire hope and contribute to the health and well-being of children suffering from chronic pain by providing a care model of health promotion education and knowledge transfer partnerships through a family centered, pediatric chronic pain peer-to-peer support network and program. The outcome of these efforts will dramatically improve the situation of many children who suffer tremendously due to complex pain problems. Chronic pain childhood diseases include, but are not limited to, Arthritis, Chiari Malformation, Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), Crohns and Colitis, Disautonomia, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), Syringomyelia and Tethered Cord. Pediatric is defined to include children and youth up to age 29 with a view to assisting transition of care from child to adult programs. VISIONAll children and adolescents (up to age 29) living with chronic pain disease will have the best opportunity to reach their potential through a comprehensive support network and program that fosters knowledge transfer. |
MIND, BODY AND SPIRITIf pain affects body, mind and spirit, then treatment must address these three pillars of the human condition. [Children and adolescents] suffering with chronic pain are twice as likely to suffer from depression and anxiety as those without. What starts in your lowever back eventually eats away at your soul. You enjoy your loved ones [and friendships] less, and you are less enjoyable to them.
