The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario

CHEOThe ILC Foundation & Children’s Hospital of Eastern OntarioThe Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO)  is a pediatric health and research center providing outstanding family-centered patient care, pioneering breakthrough research, and training the health care professionals of tomorrow. They have 165-beds and more than 180 doctors, 600 nurses and 1,500 additional staff dedicated to providing the best possible care for the children and youth of our community. CHEO is one of only a few stand-alone pediatric hospitals in Canada, and sees more than 6,000 admissions, 7,000 surgeries and more than 60,000 emergency visits each year.

CHEO acts as both a regional hospital for a broad geographic region and a center of excellence for complex and specialized care for kids with serious health conditions. They take great pride in both these roles, and apply a special blend of caring, innovation and high standards to everything they do – whether it is removing a peanut from the ear of a four-year-old (let’s face it, it happens) or performing a complicated cardiac surgery or helping a teen through the struggles of living with a chronic pain disease. The staff and physicians at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario have helped very sick children at every stage of development – some children over-coming tremendous obstacles and surviving incredible odds.

They specialize in trained pediatric experts recognizing that families are their partners, which is why they deliver such great family-centered care. Patients and families receive comprehensive treatment with the upmost respect to their unique needs and preferences. At CHEO, families are equal partners in the health care team. And they do everything they can to support families while they are at the hospital, ensuring they have access to the information they need, and are able to make informed decisions.
Their staff and physicians are passionate in their work – every day making it possible for kids to get healthy, stay healthy and thrive.

The ILC Foundation collaborates with medical professionals at The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario to address the peer support needs of kids dealing with chronic pain.
