Happy Holidays

News

Dear Friends,

As we head into the holiday season and ring in 2018, I think about how we can continue to improve and expand our services to the children, youth and the individuals that will enjoy the season through a paced effort, as they cope with the daily pain and debilitating symptoms living with Chronic Pain and Ehlers Danlos Syndromes.

Reflecting on the accomplishments achieved this year by The ILC Chronic Pain and Ehlers Danlos Charitable Foundation (“The ILC”), we extend our sincerest gratitude to our dedicated volunteers and to our donors for their generous gifts of thoughtfulness, time and treasure. With your support, The ILC attained its short-term goals set for 2017.

I’d like to update you on the progress made this year with on-going plans for 2018: The ILC signature fundraising event – the Teletime Charity Classic Golf Tournament was held in September at the Glen Abbey Golf Club; the #StillStanding song and video launch in June, by singer song-writer Ophira Calof; the Uptown Hair Salon and Spa in Oakville Charity Cut-a-Thon in June; the Toronto Rhythm and Blues Charity Boat Cruise was held in August; the Peterborough Table Hockey Association annual tournament in September; and lastly, our annual Ehlers Danlos Syndromes and Chronic Pain Learning Conference with CME accreditation by the University of Toronto was attended by 148 people, where multidisciplinary specialists presented on their respective areas of expertise to medical and allied healthcare professionals, patients and care providers. Each of the nineteen (19) lectures were recorded and uploaded to our website to support continued education.

The ILC Community
In support of the Patient Voice
EDS and Chronic Pain Care in Canada

Many individuals have advocated for improved care in their respective communities, like Anna Werrun in BC. These events have helped us to reach over 211,359 people with helpful resources.

On behalf of The ILC entire team of dedicated volunteers, we extend our sincerest gratitude to the patient population for their advocacy in sharing their stories and inviting us to be part of their journey, while together we inspire an empowered patient-voice. Many friendships have been formed within the ILC community as we coalesce our voices in our respective lived experiences. This more than anything makes our peer support network meaningful.

We are passionate! We have set laudable goals and will continue to provide care in the community.

You are invited to continue to be part of our journey! Help us make a vital difference!

We wish you and your family a happy holiday season filled with love, joy and meaning.

Sincerely, on behalf of The ILC Team,

Sandy
